Student Opportunities
Below are opportunities for TSA students, some internal and others from external organizations who reach out to TSA with commissions, art shows, services, etc. We share these listings for your convenience, but please note that TSA does not vet or take responsibility for any external opportunities.

Looking to commission handmade portrait busts of authors as personal outreach gifts.
Each bust would be around 6–10 inches tall, with a recognizable, flattering likeness in the artist’s own figurative style and choice of materials. I’m looking for hand-sculpted work rather than 3D printing, and it doesn’t need to be photorealistic.
The budget is C$250 for the artist’s fee plus C$50 for materials per bust. I’m hoping to commission 5–10 busts per month across several artists. I’d also like each artist to sign their piece and include a photo of themselves with it for the author.

Want to commission a small black-and-white graphite pencil portrait, approximately 5×7 inches, as a personal gift.
Relatively simple, natural, sketch-like drawing rather than a highly detailed finished portrait. The background can be minimal. My main priority is facial likeness — accurately capturing the subject’s face shape, features, proportions, eyes, and natural expression.
I would especially like to work with someone who already has solid experience with portraiture and likeness. If possible, I would love to see a few examples of their previous portrait work from photographs before deciding.
My preferred budget is around CAD 40–60 for the small format, but I’m flexible and happy to discuss the price depending on the artist’s portfolio and the proposed level of detail.
The portrait is a gift that I need to give on October 22.
Once I find an artist whose work is a good match, I can privately provide reference photographs of the subject. I would ask that both the photographs and the finished drawing remain private and not be posted publicly.
