Learn the basics of handbuilding in clay in this fun introductory course at TSA. Beginners and those with some clay experience, will become acquainted with handbuilding techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, soft and hard slabs building, additive and reductive decoration techniques and other expressive ways of working in clay. Explore surface decoration with slips, underglazes and glazes. The course includes demonstrations, theory, studio health and safety and discussions and analysis.

Fall 2020: 5 Weeks: Base Tuition: $264 + Materials: $25 =Total: $289

In Fall 2020, this course will be offered in 2 Parts - each 5 weeks long. These courses can be taken as stand alone courses or Part 2 can be taken as a continuation of Part 1 to further explore the medium.


PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID 19, special policies and regulations will apply. Students must be in agreement with these health and safety regulations and TSA's policies in order to enrol.


 

Notes: Material Fee includes a (10lbs) bag of Cone 6, stoneware clay and all firing and use of under glazes and glazes. Only clay from TSA may be used. Students must bring their own tools and brushes. A basic ceramic tool kit is available for purchase from TSA or bring your own.

A basic pottery tool kit like these from Tucker’s Pottery Supply in Markham or Above Ground Art Supply (several Toronto locations). TSA has kits available for sale onsite as well (limited quantities).
