This class is designed to introduce students to throwing with clay on the pottery wheel. Students will be able to make a number of pieces that can be functional or decorative. A basic understanding of the ceramic process will be covered, from wedging to firing. Skills that will be acquired during the the class will include; clay preparation, wheel throwing basic forms as well as finishing techniques, such as trimming, attaching, decoration and glazing.


Summer 2021: 8 Weeks: Base Tuition: $355 + Materials Fee: $45 = Total: $400


Due to ongoing COVID 19 safety protocols, students will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing most of their own collage and mixed media materials.

Notes: The $45 materials fee includes a bag of Cone 6 stoneware clay (20 lbs.), all firings, use of glazes and tools on site. Additional bags of clay are available for purchase at TSA (note: all clay used at TSA, must be purchased from TSA).

Materials to Bring

  • Basic Pottery tool kit available at Tucker's Pottery, Above Ground and Pottery Supply House.  TSA will also carry a limited number of these kits for purchase.
  • Your own apron (clay can be messy)
  • A selection of brushes (worn brushes are perfect)
