This course will familiarize both the beginner and intermediate-level student with the technical understanding required to manipulate acrylic paint. It will also provide an introduction to Golden Paints’ new product line called “Open Acrylics.” They are slow-drying with a creamy consistency that will increase working time, allowing the artist to create soft blended effects reminiscent of oils. We will explore some of these properties through hands-on experiments; mixing and softening paint, shading, creating transparency through a technique called glazing, fine detail and adding mediums to paint mixtures to create surfaces similar to varnished oils.
