This course focuses on expanding the student’s ability to work independently and creatively, with the support and mentorship of the instructor. Students can work with images or abstractions; this will be addressed on a one-on-one basis with the instructor. The course will review via demonstrations the proper setup of painted surfaces, stains and textured layers. Students should be prepared to begin working in the first class. If a student is unsure of where to start, the instructor will provide a beginning point.
Media: All paint mediums. Students can use either acrylics or oils. Oil painters are encouraged to engage in a safe studio practice using contemporary non-toxic oil mediums. Demos will be done in acrylics.
Notes: It is recommended students have taken an Introduction to Painting course, or have some painting experience. Any demos will be done in acrylics. All paint mediums allowed; students can use either acrylics or oils. Oil painters are encouraged to engage in a safe studio practice using contemporary non-toxic oil mediums.
