While mastery of historical painting techniques can be an end in itself, sometimes combining traditional methods with wild and inventive approaches can be very inspiring. A traditional WIPEOUT style of painting allows you to establish composition, to broadly push and pull values, to find a balance between hard and soft edges, and to get familiar with your subject matter.

This course will use Golden Paints new line of acrylic and mediums known as OPEN. They extend the drying time of pigment, allowing ample opportunity to WIPEOUT! We will also look at new ways to smooth out the texture of canvas easing this process. This method can be used for representational styles, as well as abstract approaches.
