Matt has been an instructor at Western University and the University of Alberta and has taught workshops across the country. NOTES: Anahita Akhavan is a Toronto-based artist and faculty member at TSA since 2018. Previously, she taught the Fundamentals of Painting and Drawing at the University of Saskatchewan. Akhavan’s practice ranges from figurative abstract painting to collage, drawing and photography. Her studio practice ranges from collage making to painting and drawing. She draws her subject matter from fragments of the human condition; identity, social roles, both subjectification and objectification of "the self" in multi-layered constructed surreal spaces. NOTES: Toronto based artist Stephanie Fortin uses textile techniques of natural dyeing, weaving, piecing, clamping, wrapping and stitching to explore various ideas around process and colour. Creating both functional and non functional work in art, craft and design. Fortin held a full time artist-in-residence position at Harbourfront Centre (Toronto, ON) and Akin + Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA), was a member of The Contemporary Textile Studio Coop (Toronto, ON). NOTES: Tobias Williams is a Toronto based visual artist and Educator working in printmaking and digital media. His multidisciplinary art practice is concerned with exploring the relationship between society and technology. He graduated with an MFA from York University in 2013. He currently works as faculty at OCAD University, Humber College and TSA in Toronto. He has exhibited in group and solo shows both locally in Toronto and internationally. Recent exhibitions and events include “no name city” at the Art Gallery of Ontario, “Bad Geometry” at Project Gallery studios in Toronto, “Unkempt” a group exhibition which took place at MAW Guru located in lower Manhattan, and “Super Nova” a public screening series which took place in Denver. Tobias has received several awards and grants including a TAC Artists grant in 2014, an OAC artists grant in 2013 and the Don Phillips Scholarship at Open Studio in 2009.
