This course is a continuation of the Surface Decoration and Design on Clay 1 but is also suitable as a standalone course. Learn, explore and experiment with surface decoration on clay. In this class you will learn how to texture, colour and develop your own voice with the materials while learning a wide range of techniques that can be applied in all stages of working in clay.

This is a 5-week SPRING SUNDAY WORKSHOP.

What you will learn

  • working with slips- inlay/mishima, stamping and graffito
  •  Texture - making sprig molds and impressing with found objects and textured block.
  • Resist etching (shellac) burnishing, monoprinting, silkscreen transfers.
  • Surface reduction: Carving, piercing and chattering.
  • Decoration with glaze & post firing methods

Materials to Bring

All materials will be provided.  Any additional materials will be discussed in the first class

Please bring an apron- clay work can be messy.
