This  ONLINE course is designed to help you get started drawing from real life. If you've never drawn before and would like to learn the basics, this course will help you learn how to draw realistic and three-dimensional forms. Through online demos, slide shows and images shares, students will learn observational drawing techniques combined with traditional drawing approaches to help gain drawing confidence and comfort. You will be guided through each exercise, gaining an understanding of the importance and reason behind each practice and technique. Students will also learn how to draw 3D objects with the help of structural line drawing using one and two-point perspective, and learn how to create depth by playing with scale and the placement of objects in a harmonious composition. This course can be taken as a stand alone course or in conjunction with 016 ONLINE Drawing Basics: Next Steps.

Notes: Instructor Anahita Akhavan is a Toronto-based artist and has been teaching at TSA since the Summer term of 2018. Previously, she taught Fundamentals of Painting and Drawing at the University of Saskatchewan. Akhavan’s practice ranges from figurative abstract painting to collage, drawing and photography. She draws her subject matter from fragments of the human condition: identity, social roles of "the self" in multi-layered constructed surreal spaces. She has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in both Iran and Canada.
