Push your drawing up a notch or two! This six-week course focuses on refining and building the technical aspects of drawing the human form. Using a combination of short and longer poses working with life models, we will work on further developing the skills necessary for sensitive, descriptive figure drawing, gesture drawing, contour drawing, proportion and values (light and shadow). Elements of body structure will be reviewed each week. Instruction consists of brief lectures and short demo drawings, as well as handouts. Work by contemporary and traditional figurative artists will also be presented.
Note: It is recommended that students have taken an Introduction to Life Drawing course or have equivalent and recent life drawing instruction.

Notes: Thomas Hendry, a Toronto-based artist, has been an instructor at the Toronto School of Art since 1996. Hendry has been active as an art instructor for over a decade, and he believes that learning art should be positive discovery process. He practices this teaching philosophy beyond the Toronto School of Art at Sheridan College, The Haliburton School of Fine Arts, the AGO Gallery School, OCAD Outreach Program and the Toronto District School Board. His drawings, shown in numerous exhibitions, use the means of traditional art to create contemporary images, images that address the beauty, mystery and complexity embodied in the human form. Please keep your receipts to all purchases incase you need to return any materials.
