This course emphasizes basic drawing skills in gesture, contour, and tone. It is designed to teach students the skills necessary to render the figure in three dimensions, in both wet and dry media. Instruction in surface anatomy and proportion is included. Class sessions will provide students with personal attention and guidance.   Media: Charcoal, conté, ink, newsprint.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID 19, special policies and regulations will apply. Students must be in agreement with these health and safety regulations and TSA's policies in order to enrol.

Notes: It is recommended that students have taken an Introduction to Drawing course or equivalent. A nude model will be used in this course.

Basic Supplies:

  • Charcoal: Vine (or Willow) charcoal
  • 2 Conte 'Carrees d'Esquisse' black sketching crayons - B
  • Red or brown chalk drawing sticks - any brand will do.
  • White plastic eraser
  • 2 bulldog clips
  • Newsprint - two 18 x 24" pads
  • Kneadable eraser
