• All Levels
  • Interdisciplinary

This course is intended for students who would like to explore new materials and ways to make work. Each week we will study the practice of a contemporary artist that uses textile and fibre materials and processes and use their techniques and concepts as a jumping off point for study and experimentation. Students will work with a wide range of found materials, which are transformed through the processes of embroidery, weaving, macrame, wrapping, etc. These fiber art works can be further transformed through drawing, painting and dye processes which will be integrated into class material. Students will transform ordinary materials by working with colour-blending techniques to create a small series of forms and objects using fabrics, threads, yarns papers, wire and more.
