Open Life Drawing/Painting

TSA offers drop-in opportunities to work on your observation skills and technique with uninstructed life drawing and painting sessions. No registration necessary. $15 at the door, or purchase a 5-session pass* for $60 from a moderator or from the TSA office.


OPEN LIFE DRAWING is held twice a week, and OPEN LIFE PAINTING is held once a week, per the following schedule:

During July and August, OPEN LIFE DRAWING is held on Mondays 6-9pm and Thursdays 6-9pm. OPEN LIFE PAINTING is only held on Thursdays, 6-9pm.

The final Friday session is held on June 29. The first Thursday session is held on July 5.

For the rest of the year (Fall, Winter and Spring terms), OPEN LIFE DRAWING is held on Mondays 6-9pm and Fridays 6-9pm. OPEN LIFE PAINTING is only held on Fridays, 6-9pm.

NOTE: TSA will be closed and no sessions held on the following upcoming Public Holidays in 2018:

  • Family Day: Mon. Feb. 19
  • Good Friday: Fri. Mar. 30
  • Victoria Day: Mon. May 21
  • Canada Day, observed: Mon. July 2
  • Civic Holiday: Mon. Aug. 6
  • Labour Day: Mon. Sept. 3
  • Thanksgiving: Mon. Oct. 8
  • Christmas Day and Boxing Day: Dec. 24 and 25



TSA has easels, stools, tables, chairs, drawing horse benches and hard surfaces. Please bring your own paper and drawing materials. 

The TSA office has a small pop-up shop where you can purchase basic materials (newsprint, cartridge paper, pencils, charcoal, conte). TSA office hours are Mon-Thu 9am-6:30pm, Fri 9am-5pm, Sat 9am-2pm.


TSA Code of Conduct for Classes with Models applies to Open Life Drawing/Painting, and is clearly displayed in our studios.

*5-session passes expire six months from purchase and are not redeemable for cash. TSA is not responsible for lost or stolen passes.
