Pearl Van Geest

Bio

Pearl Van Geest is an artist, writer and art educator who has designed and taught courses, workshops and educational programming for art schools, public art galleries, businesses, special events and public schools and universities since graduating from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 1996. She also holds a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Fine Art. In both her artistic practice and pedagogical approach she is deeply committed to the creative process itself and the possibilities that develop for innovation and expression.

Van Geest’s paintings are part of the Canada Council’s Art Bank Collection. She was shortlisted for the RBC’s Canadian Painting Prize in 2003 and was included in the Magenta Foundation’s 2008 publication on Canadian painters, Carte Blanche: Vol. 2.  She has been awarded grants from Ontario and Canada Arts Councils, was the City of Guelph’s inaugural Artist in the Community 2014 and the recipient of the Canadian Art Foundation’s  National Art Writing Prize in 2015.
