In today’s art market, high quality digital photos of artwork are necessary for inclusion in artist websites and blogs and for submission to galleries, grant applications, competitions and art shows. Participants in this one-day workshop will learn to use their digital cameras to create professional-quality photographs of their own artwork. They will also learn to prepare and size those images as digital files suitable for email attachments, web and blog content and high-quality prints.

Workshop participants must have a digital camera and a tripod and bring one piece of artwork to work with. No prior knowledge of digital software is required.

What you will learn


  • Review of digital cameras
  • Review of proper lighting and correct exposure
  • Demonstration of proper photographing technique
  • Student photography of their artwork  Downloading of student images to TSA Digital Lab computers


  • Introduction to Adobe Photoshop
  • Demonstration of image cropping
  • Demonstration of colour correction technique
  • Demonstration of image sizing(general and custom)  Demonstration of digital file saving
  • (All instructor demonstrations are followed by student participation and critique)
