This ONLINE course is an in-depth study of artistic anatomy through oil based clay sculpting. We will be working from the skeleton, anatomical models and image references. Students will learn how to see beyond the skin surface and start by sculpting the bone structure of the human body before getting into the muscles and fatty tissues. Each muscle group will be studied from a 3D perspective and modeled onto the skeleton looking closely at their grouping, point of origin & insertion and action. Students can use this anatomical study as valuable reference. They will gain a stronger knowledge and understanding of anatomy applicable to not only to figure sculpture but also to figure drawing and painting. Students will have access to the 3D Model scans outside of class time and throughout the course.

Previous experience sculpting with clay is recommended but not a must.
