  • Painting

Students will explore observational Figure Painting through extended poses. Proportion, shape, value, light and colour theory both in reference to the portrait and the body will be discussed. Using Oil or acrylic paint, various methods of application using contemporary indirect painting processes will be investigated. Be it more traditional or a more contemporary approach, students will be encouraged to explore various aesthetic styles other their choosing. This painting course promotes the ability to capture drama wherever it is expressed in the body. An emphasis will be placed on creating volume and depth through use of colour and exploring the expressive potential of shape and brush treatment and its relationship to colour and light.

Tuition (with Paul Turner): $385 + Model fee: $80 = Total $465

Notes: A nude model will be used. This course is intended for students who have some experience in either drawing or painting. It is recommended that students have taken a course in Introduction to Painting, Introduction to Life Drawing, or have basic painting skills.
