The depiction of still-life subjects can be traced back to Classical antiquity and remains a subject of choice by many contemporary artists. Its symbolism and potential for creative expression keeps it from being a tired form of investigation and personal discovery. This course is intended to give students more opportunity to practice painting skills introduced in Basic Painting. Students will practice their application skills while painting small and intimate subjects that will take no more than two sittings to complete. Skill building in paint application, colour mixing and the importance of composition will be integrated in each still-life exercise.  Students will complete 3 - 4 paintings depending on individual experience.
