Practice and advance your techniques for handbuilding and throwing on the potter's wheel. This course is designed as a follow-up to an introductory level ceramics experience. Develop handbuilding techniques building on the basics of coiling, soft and hard slabs building, additive and reductive decoration techniques and other expressive ways of working in clay. Wheel throwing techniques will be demonstrated with the opportunity to work on one of our 9 pottery wheels. Explore surface decoration with slips, underglazes and glazes. Course includes demonstrations, theory, studio health and safety and discussions and analysis.

10 Weeks: Base Tuition: $422 + Materials Fee: $45 = Total: $467

Notes: For throwing students a basic knowledge of working on the wheel including 'centering' skills is required.

Materials to Bring

$45 materials fee includes a bag of Cone 6 stoneware clay (20lbs), all firings, use of glazes and tools on site.  Additional bags of clay are available for purchase at TSA (note: all clay used at TSA, must be purchased from TSA)
