• Introduction-Intermediate
  • Painting

Human emotions can have a universal pattern and a visual component when painted. The expressive nature of the brushstroke can convey thoughts and feelings. This course introduces the student to the process of accessing this non-representational world by using analog paintings. We start with an emotionally loaded word, than find a way to express that emotion through brush and paint. We will learn how to discern themes within this output, refine our first marks, and finally how make it all ‘pretty’. This course will focus on using Fluid Acrylics on paper to facilitate spontaneity. Individual feedback from the instructor as well as focused group discussions will be an important part of this workshop.

Spring Tuition (6 weeks): $290 | Materials fee: $30 | Total: $320

Notes: This course was formally titled: Fluid Acrylic Abstraction on Paper. It is suitable for students who have taken Fundamental Acrylics or have some experience with Acrylic Paint.
